Comox Valley Poverty Data Walk
From August through October, the Comox Valley Poverty Data Walk will be available for community members to experience in-person at various indoor and outdoor locations. The Data Walk aims to inform, create conversation and encourage community members to explore ways of reducing and eliminating poverty in the region. Look for them in our community now! Social Planning
A process that involves local governments and community members working
together to address social issues and build healthy communities. Integrated with
other types of planning, social planning focuses on the people themselves
in the community planning context.
It has come to our attention that the K’ómoks First Nation have updated their website with additional historical information about their presence in this region, This update reflects their ongoing commitment to preserving and sharing their rich cultural heritage. Considering this important development, we encourage all visitors to explore these updated resources for the most current and accurate information about the Indigenous history of this land.
As part of our commitment to reconciliation and respect for Indigenous peoples, we continue to include land acknowledgments whenever we present. While we strive to keep our acknowledgments current, we recognize the dynamic nature of historical understanding. Therefore, we urge you to refer to the newly updated information provided directly by the K’ómoks First Nation as the most authoritative source when considering the land acknowledgment statements.
